Obituary: Williams, Owen Bernard

Owen passed away after a sudden cardiac event, on July 14, 2012, in Spokane, WA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Wilhelm (Lillthors) Williams, mother, Bertha (Rabbe) Williams, sister, Deann (Williams) Davis, and daughter, Kristina (Williams) Weise.
His survivors are his son, Eric Williams, and his wife, Heather, with their two children, Leeann and Lauren; and his son-in law, Bill Weise (Kristina’s husband), and children, Andrew, Jacob, and Hannah.
His survivors also include his wife, Delores (Maulis) Williams, and her two sons, Aretus Murphy and Sean Murphy, Sean’s wife, Angela, and their children, Brian and Brenna.
Owen was born in Page, ID.
When he was seven years old, they moved to Kingston, ID, where he graduated from high school.
In 1959, he completed studies in electronics at DeVry University in Chicago, IL.
Owen started in electronics while serving in the Coast Guard, and subsequently, moved into positions as a construction electrician.
He married Kathleen (Brighton) Williams, and they had Kristina and Eric and moved around the country (CA, MD, WI, PA, AL , and WA) on various construction projects.
Eventually, the family resettled in Washington.
He retired at the age of 65 from Prudhoe Bay, AK.
He married Delores (Maulis) Williams in 1991 and lived in Spokane, WA.
He loved his family, and he enjoyed the outdoors, including snow skiing, water skiing, boating, and other outdoor activities.
His love was Priest Lake and the houseboat, Great Expectations, that he and Delores built after his retirement.
It was here that they enjoyed the summers with their kids and grandchildren.
Owen’s Christian faith was demonstrated by his wide-spread distribution of the book, “How GOOD is Good Enough?”

To continue Owen’s ministry, contributions may be made in his name to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3606 S. Schafer Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99206.
