Positive Life Radio gathering food Wednesday

Positive Life Radio 104.9 will hold its annual Christmas in July Food Drive Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m. at various locations.

In Spokane Valley, donations will be accepted at Costco, 5601 E. Sprague Ave. There also will be collection centers in Spokane, Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene. The station will collect nonperishable food items and will also accept toiletries, especially products for women and children.

All donations will go to local food banks for distribution. Last year, Positive Life collected 23,650 pounds of food, toiletries and other items for the food banks.

Singles group

Christian Singles Fellowship will host its 11th annual barbecue picnic July 28 at Liberty Lake Regional Park, 3707 S. Zephyr Road.

The event begins at 8 a.m. with a hike and includes volleyball, swimming and games for all ages until the day wraps up at 8 p.m. The barbecue lunch will be served from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $6 for adults and teens and $3 for children 12 and younger when accompanied by a parent. Tickets do not include admission to the park and tickets must be purchased in advance.

Vacation Bible school

Genesis Christian Church will host a Beach Party vacation Bible school the week of Aug. 6-10. Classes will be daily from 9 a.m. to noon for children in grades 1-5. The free sessions include games, crafts, snacks and skits.
