Road preservation projects start Monday

Several Spokane Valley road preservation projects will affect traffic when construction begins Monday.

The areas include Fourth Avenue from Dishman-Mica to Farr roads, Dishman-Mica from 16th Avenue to Schafer Road, and Vista Road from Mission to Nora avenues. All three streets will get a new asphalt overlay and all the projects are expected to last two weeks.

During construction hours, Fourth will be limited to one lane, with flaggers alternating traffic through the construction zone. During non-construction hours there will be one lane open in each direction.

The Dishman-Mica project will include work on the traffic light at Dishman-Mica and Schafer. The light will flash red and should be treated as a four-way stop until construction is complete. Traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction during construction.

Traffic on Vista will be limited to one lane during construction hours and flaggers will alternate traffic through the construction area. One lane in each direction will be open during non-construction hours.

The Vista Road project is expected to occasionally block residential access for up to four hours at a time. Anyone who has concerns about limited access due to health issues or other reasons is asked to call project manager Craig Aldworth at (509) 720-5001.
