Riverfront Park a treat

Kudos are definitely in order to Spokane’s citizens for the splendid job you’ve done preserving and enhancing Riverfront Park. We visited Spokane recently after an absence of many years and were astonished at the magnificent legacy of the Spokane World’s Fair. You have managed to create a delightful public environment of rolling lawns, lots of trees, fountains and places for the public to play.

We were particularly impressed with the fact that the park preserves lots of open space. By contrast, Seattle Center (the former site of the 1962 World’s Fair) has preserved almost no open space and has succumbed to the lure of commercial interests and the desire to generate revenue.
