Obituary: Mcglade, Anna “Rooney”

Age 102

McGLADE, Anna
“Rooney”
(Age 102)

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 29, 2012 in Spokane, WA.

Born on December 18, 1909 to Thomas Pritchard and Lizzie Harris Pritchard in Pullman, WA, she grew up living on a wheat farm and maintained half ownership of the farm until her death.

She married Grant McGlade on March 29, 1930 in Pullman and graduated with Honors from Washington State College in 1930, where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.

Grant and Anna owned and operated McGlade’s Funeral Home and Ambulance Service in Kellogg, ID; Anna was a licensed Funeral Director.

In 1966 she and Grant moved to the Spokane Valley where they attended Valley Fourth Memorial Church and she devoted her time to her church, husband, children, and grandchildren.

Anna had a heart for world missions, and served as the Missions Treasurer at her church for many years.

She also served for 34 years with the Women’s Auxiliary of the Union Gospel Mission, and was the Auxiliary president for a time.

She loved to sew, and donated many clothing items to the women and children at Anna Ogden Hall.

Anna has been a resident at Hawthorne Retirement Community since 1998.

At 92 years of age, Anna wrote “I don’t know how many more years the Lord will keep me on earth, but I pray He will keep me useful as long as I live.”

Her prayer was answered: she was a blessing to her family, a mighty prayer warrior, and faithful witness of her savior Jesus Christ until the end.

Preceding her in death are her husband Grant McGlade; daughter Jo Ann Morgan; and granddaughter Michelle Morgan.

She is survived by her son Jerry McGlade (Roberta Kirkpatrick) of Mead, WA; son-in-law Jerry Morgan (Pat) of Glen Ellyn, IL; grandchildren John Morgan (Annie) of Grand Haven, MI; Chris Morgan (Mary) of Ann Arbor, MI; Meredith Klaas (John) of Barrington Hills, IL; Brenda Chase (Foster) of Colbert, WA; Mike McGlade (Estela) of Salem, OR; Pat McGlade (Jodie) of Bossier City, LA; Kelley Denome (Andy) of Yakima, WA; 13 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

The family is very grateful to the staff at Hawthorne and Royal Park Care Center for the quality care and love they showed to our Rooney.

Visitation will be 10AM-5PM Saturday and Monday at Heritage and her Funeral Service 1:30PM Tuesday July 31, 2012 at the Union Gospel Mission Chapel, 1224 E. Trent Ave., Spokane 99202.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Gospel Mission.
