Marking the spot: Jared Beckley, of Century Survey Inc., paints a stick marking the southwest corner on the site of the new Jefferson Elementary School at 37th Avenue and Manito Boulevard in Spokane on Monday. The new school, which will replace the existing 1908 building a few blocks away, will be a single-story, 60,000-square-foot building. The estimated budget for the project is $24.8 million, with completion expected in fall of 2013. T.W. Clark Construction is the contractor. (Dan Pelle)
