Pick cartoons sensibly
I understand the wit and possible value of political cartoons, but Michael Ramirez often crosses that line to meanness and disrespect (the recent reference to the president as a liar). Your paper will replace Doonesbury’s comic strip with reruns if you feel that the current one might offend some people. Why not do the same with the political cartoons?
Most people of either political party understand good taste and show respect to the president of the United States, even though they might not support his agenda. I know that I don’t have to read the political cartoons or even subscribe to your paper; that is not the idea behind this letter. Good sense and respectability are.
