Spokane

Senior day at Immaculate Heart Retreat Center – The event for those 55 and older will include lunch, social time, live music, games and tours of the facility. Wednesday, 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m, 6910 S. Ben Burr Road. $10. (509) 448-1224.

Buddhist Obon celebration – Spokane Buddhist Temple, 927 S. Perry St., will present the Rev. Grant Ikuta from the Canadian Buddhist Churches on Sunday during two services. The first will be at 9 a.m. at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, 211 N. Government Way, for the Obon cemetery service. Obon is a festival of souls celebrated in July in Japan to honor departed ancestors. Ikuta will give the Dharma talk during the 10:30 a.m. service at the temple. (509) 534-7954.
