Obituary: Smith, Alfred Tremaine

Age 91

SMITH, Alfred Tremaine

7/28/1921 - 7/18/2012

Passed away at 91 years of age.

Al was very loved.

He is survived by his third wife Fran, his five children, eight stepchildren and many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild.

Al also had three surviving sisters- Lois, Faye and Jean.

Family members that preceded Al in death were his parents, Lester and Frances (Robinson) Smith, a brother Frank and a sister Evelyn.

Al grew up in Garibaldi, OR.

He moved to the Spokane Valley in about 1949 where he and his wife Dee raised five children: Stan, Steve, Gail, Nathan and Ramona.

In 1971, Al married Wilma and “inherited” five stepchildren: Anna Marie, Rusty, Debbie, Anita and George.

Wilma passed away in 2007.

Fran and her three grown children, Ron, Toni and Hans, became a part of the family in December ‘09 when Al and Fran were married.

Al joined the Navy at 19 and later the Air National Guard.

He also was a mail carrier for the Otis Orchards Post Office and held down a second job while doing so.

Al was the plant manager for Alumax and then worked at Johnson-Mathey.

He was a hard worker but always took time for his family.

In later years, he became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

He looked forward to the promises set out in Psalm 37 and Revelation 21:1-4.

Sharing his hope with any and all was something he enjoyed.

We thank Hospice, especially Barb.

She was so kind and compassionate.

And of course, all others involved.

Memorial will be at the Post Falls Kingdom Hall at 5pm, July 28, 2012.
