Tanner Comes wins 14-15 division of WJGA State Championship

Tanner Comes of Spokane won the boys 14-15 division on Friday at the Washington Junior Golf Association State Championship at Meridian Country Club in Kent.

Comes charged to the championship with a final-round 70 to finish with a three-round total of 224 and a four-stroke victory.

His round matched the best of the day over all the boys’ age divisions.

Other area golfers competing in that division on the final day were Joe Baldeck of Clarkston (232), Blake Ellingsen of Spokane (240) and Michael Brutocao of Spokane (247).

Trevor Fedele of Post Falls finished at 228 in the boys 16-17 division, 11 strokes back of the winner, Ross Kukula of Ocean Park, Wash., while Zach Spencer of Mead was at 230.

In the only other division involving area golfers after the cut made on Friday, Sierra Kersten of Spokane, placed second, shooting a 76 to finish at 236, two strokes back of Lauryn Keating of Elma, Wash.
