Catherine May Ambelang (Cathy), age 63 of Liberty Lake, finished her journey here on earth and entered into her spiritual journey with God on July 14, 2012.

Catherine was born on December 5, 1948 in Palo Alto, California, the youngest of three children, to Harley Eugene Seymour and Eunice Emily Seymour (Bruce).

Catherine grew up in Sunnyvale, California where she attended Fremont High School.

It was at Fremont High School where she met the love of her life, Hugh Ambelang.

On March 25, 1967, Catherine and Hugh were married.

The wedding took place at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Sunnyvale, California.

Catherine was a stay at home mom until her youngest child was in kindergarten.

She then worked for Bullocks Department Store and later become employed with Hewlett Packard (HP).

In 1980, Hugh and Catherine transferred with HP and moved their family to Spokane, Washington.

They built a house in Liberty Lake and reside there still today.

Catherine had many hobbies, including various crafts, stained glass, racket ball, and skiing.

She had a huge heart for animals and her passion was golf and traveling with friends.

Catherine excelled in everything she set out to do.

Catherine and her sister (Nadia) volunteered and decorated a Christmas tree every year for the Festival of Trees to benefit Kootenai Medical Center.

Catherine enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and friends.

Catherine will always be a representation of class and elegant beauty.

She leaves many loving friends who have been at her side supporting her and Hugh throughout her illness.

For this, we extend our deepest gratitude.

Catherine is survived by her loving husband Hugh; children, Steven Ambelang of San Francisco, California and Jodie Bailey of Liberty Lake.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Danko and his staff at Cancer Care Northwest and a special thank you to Hospice of Spokane.

They all were a comfort to the family and to Catherine during this very long journey.
