MONTAGUE, Garry H.
(Age 60)

Passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012 at his home in Spokane WA.

Garry was born and raised in Spokane graduating from West Valley High School in 1970.

He started his own business at age 18 and has continued for 42 years as owner and operator of Garry Montague Auctioneers and GM Heavy Haul.

Garry was very active in Spokane East Rotary Club and at the time was the youngest President of Rotary Spokane East Rotary Club.


He was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow for his contributions to Rotary.
Garry’s real passion was for the Boy Scouts of America serving as Scoutmaster of Troop 130 for many years.

During his tenure he loved to take the scouts camping, fishing, hiking and snowmobiling.

His homemade ice cream was always a treat.

As Scoutmaster Garry encouraged and mentored many young men to obtain their Eagle Scout.

Garry was also the committee chairman of many Camp Cowles Projects.

Because of his dedication and hard work he was awarded Boy Scouts Silver Beaver Award and the camps bath house was named the Garry Montague Bath House.

He was also past president of The Washington State Auctioneers Association.

Garry volunteered his services at many benefit auctions.

A wonderful husband, father and friend he will be greatly missed.

Garry is survived by his wife of 40 years Mary Anne; son Chris (Jennifer); grandson Ethan; father George (JoAnn); brothers Larry (Carolyn), Jerry (Bonnie) and Kerry (Elaine); two stepbrothers; a stepsister; two brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his mother Martha in 1976 and sister Connie in 1974.

Visitation will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday July 27, 28, and 29 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Hennessey Smith Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division.

Funeral service will be held Monday, July 30 at 2:00 pm at Whitworth Presbyterian Church 312 W. Hawthorne Rd.

Interment will be at Riverside Memorial Park.
