The runway meets the grapevine to support a good cause Wednesday evening at Vintage Vines, 106 N. Evergreen Road.

Vintage Vines, a wine and beer shop, is teaming up with Orchid Boutique, 4102 S. Bowdish Road, to present Good Taste – a ladies night-out event featuring wine tasting and a fashion show. The businesses have pledged to donate 10 percent of the event’s proceeds to support Spokane Valley Partners, a nonprofit with a food bank, clothing bank and emergency assistance programs.

The hosts are also accepting donations of gently used career clothing for the Valley Partners clothing bank. These donations help women who need professional attire for job interviews or work.

“We wanted to do something for the Valley,” Orchid Boutique co-owner Sarah MacKay said.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a wine tasting and social hour. The fashion show will follow, featuring casual summer clothing from Orchid Boutique.

MacKay said there will be nine outfits modeled by three local women.

“We picked people who shop with us,” MacKay said. “And we knew they would be great in our show.”

The models will mingle with the guests.

“We want the event to be relaxed,” MacKay said. “More low-key.”

Orchid Boutique will also be selling handbags, jewelry and accessories throughout the night.

Vintage Vines manager Kelly Warner will offer a small selection of popular wines to taste. She also plans to have appetizer and drink specials and door prizes throughout the event.

“It’s more of an open house,” Warner said. “This is our first one so we’re going to see how it goes.”

MacKay hopes to host more events like this in the future, including a fall fashion show event.

“We want to make it an event people look forward to,” MacKay said. “Grab a girlfriend for a glass of wine and enjoy the show.”
