Passed away June 2, 2012 in Spokane Valley, WA.

She was born April 17, 1937 in Seattle, WA to John S. and Helen Duggan.


With a quiet, quick wit and a kind, generous heart, Janet gave incredible joy and comfort to those who loved her.

Highly skilled in calligraphy and batik, she has left many tangible memories with them.

And as a high school teacher, using her Master’s degree in Mathematics from Stanford University, she made math comprehensible to hundreds of young women just as the world was opening to women as intelligent, equal contributors.

After her teaching career, she served the parishioners of Our Lady of Fatima and Assumption parishes as their church secretary.
Janet is survived by her sister, Diane Duggan Bowers of Seattle; brother, Richard Duggan of Olympia, WA; nieces and nephews, Molly Latham, Sheila Bowers, Melissa Bowers, John Duggan, Kevin Duggan and Karen Duggan Jenkins as well as her longtime friend and housemate, Martha Schwab.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
Per her request, private services were held on June 7, 2012.
