Rae Mary Thompson departed this life to join her beloved Howard on June 6, 2012.

Mrs. Thompson was born March 10, 1925 in Melbourne, Australia and was the second daughter of William and Flo Gott.

She met Howard D. Thompson while both were serving their countries during WWII-she was in the Australian Women’s Army and he was in the US Army.

They married in Melbourne on October 8, 1943 and later returned to the US, making their home in Spokane in 1947.

They worked and raised three daughters in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area.

Throughout her life, Rae Mary worked as a motel manager in addition to renovating more than 35 houses.

She and her husband square-danced for many years with the Diamond Squares, Shooting Stars, Crazy 8’s,and Coeurly Q’s and were members of the Valley Elks.

Rae Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith Crawford (Chuck), in 1997 and by her husband, Howard, in 2001, as well as by her father, mother, and sister, Betty Cross.

She leaves behind her daughters, Dawn Morrow (Jim) and Robyn Robles, both of Spokane, as well as seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of Rae Mary’s life will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in the Spokane Valley at 4:00 pm on Sunday June 10.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rae Mary’s honor may be made to Hospice of Spokane or the Valley Elks Children’s Therapy Program 2605 N. Robie Rd, Spokane Valley, 99206.
