VOEGELE, Robert

Twenty-year Spokane Val-ley resident, Robert Voegele, 85, passed away on June 5, 2012, following a series of strokes.
Robert was born December 8, 1926, in Zap, N.D., to Christ and Eva Voegele.

He served in the US Army during the German occupation rising to the rank of staff sergeant.

It was there that he married his first wife.

He was later recalled by the Army to serve as a medic in the Korean conflict.
In 1956, Robert and family joined the migration to Southern California where they settled in the San Gabriel Valley.

He joined the Ironworkers Local #404 and was superintendent of many major construction projects throughout California and Nevada.

His marriage later ended in divorce.
Robert retired to Spokane and married longtime resident, Maria Cox.
The couple has been active in the Eagles Fraternity, German Society, and the Senior Citizens of Spokane.

They also enjoyed riding with their motorcycle club and motor-homing and camping with friends.

Robert was a great enthusiast of guitar music, dancing, foreign and domestic travel, and his many projects around the house.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Maria Cox Voegele; daughters
Leeann Voegele of Vancouver, WA, and Julia O’Connell of Woodside, CA; sons Dwight Robert Voegele of Alta Loma, CA, and Dennis Dale Voegele, of San Clemente, CA; his sisters Hella Menge and Alvina Spier, and brothers Ruben and Raymond, all of North Dakota; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 11, 2012 from 12 Noon until 5 P.M. at the funeral home.

Funeral services take place on Tuesday, June 12, at 11 A.M. at the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery.
