Obituary: Billings, Richard Lee “Rick”

Richard Lee “Rick” Billings passed away at Hospice House of Spokane on June 12, 2012, just 3 months after being diagnosed with cancer.
Rick was born in Kansas City, MO to Richard Gene and Delma Jean (Smith) Billings on December 31, 1946.

He graduated from
Westwood High School in Mesa, AZ in 1965 and subsequently served in the Navy during the Vietnam conflict.

Later he worked at GTE and Verizon.

Most recently he was an Applications Engineer at ReliOn-Inc in Spokane.
Rick was a golf enthusiast and woodworker, turning out one-of-a-kind pens.

Now he is perfecting his putt on Heaven’s greens.

He was a kind soul with a streak of spunk, reveling in teasing his family and friends even to his final days.

He will be missed tremendously.
Rick was a loving and generous soul, a devoted family man and a faithful friend.

He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 30 years, Jan; three daughters, Terri Lee Rowland, Elizabeth Vaith (Bill), and Melanie Fladebo (Jason); nine grandchildren; brother Michael Billings (Linda) and sister Sheryl Little (Shawn); Jan’s brothers and sisters, whom he claimed as his own; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal services at Rick’s request.

Rick was an ardent pet lover; if wished in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PNAWP (Pacific NW Animal Welfare Project), PO Box 273, Newman Lake, WA.
