Patrick Simon, a native of Ephrata, Wash., who will be a junior this season, has been granted his release from Washington State and will transfer to another school. “Patrick is an exceptional young man and we appreciate the contributions he’s made to our program over the last two years,” WSU men’s basketball coach Ken Bone said in a statement. A 6-foot-8 small forward with a deft 3-point shooting touch, Simon was a promising prospect coming out of high school. He averaged just 2.9 points and 1.3 rebounds in 52 games during the last two seasons. Simon will have three years to play two after his transfer. – Christian Caple
