Pearl Jam to play Missoula on Sept. 30
Pearl Jam is only playing a few festivals in the U.S. this year. But if you’re dying to see the band play live in 2012, a three-hour road trip to Missoula might be in order.
The band announced it will play the Adams Center at the University of Montana on Sept. 30. Mudhoney will open the show.
The concert is in support of U.S. Sen. Jon Tester, the Montana Democrat who is running for re-election. Jeff Ament, the Pearl Jam bassist who is from Big Sandy, Mont., and a longtime friend of the Tester family, had this to say on the band’s website: “Pearl Jam looks forward to joining folks from across Montana in support of Jon to build momentum and re-elect him in November.”
Premium ticket packages will be available through the Tester campaign. Tickets for the general public go on sale June 22 through www.griztix.com or (888) 666-8262. Ticket price is $55, plus applicable fees.

‘Toga’ fundraiser
Spokane Public Radio is getting Roman for its annual Evening Under the Stars fundraiser.
As in “toga party” Roman.
The concert – set for Aug. 2 at Arbor Crest Wine Cellars – will feature dinner music by Paul Grove and Rhonda Bradetich and classic rock by Diminishing Faculties. Attendees are invited to come dressed in their best togas, with a prize promised for the best costume. The evening also will include dinner and a silent auction.
Tickets go on sale Monday – $42 for the general public and $37 for current SPR members. The event is for those 21 and older only. Tickets are availble at the station, 2319 N. Monroe St., or by calling (509) 328-5729.
Traveling band
The light jazz and pop duo Traveling Light is going on tour later this month – a tour of Whitman County.
The group – vocalist Mary Michaelson and keyboardist Lou Lippman – will perform a series of free concerts in different community venues. The Whitman County Library, with a matching grant from Washington Humanities, is sponsoring the Summer Concert Series.

‘Producer’ auditions
Ever wanted to be in “The Producers”?
Spokane Civic Theatre will hold auditions its upcoming production of the Broadway smash at 6:30 p.m. July 16 and 17. Civic will be casting the major roles – Max Bialystock, Leopold Bloom, Franz Liebkind, Roger De Bris, Carmen Ghia and Ulla – in addition to singing and acting roles for 10 to 12 men and 10 to 12 women.

‘Music Man’ in Sandpoint
First there was “Annie” at Spokane Civic Theatre. Then there is “Hello, Dolly!,” which continues today and next weekend at Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre. Soon, it’ll be Sandpoint’s turn to host a classic American musical.
Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man,” directed by Deborah McShane, will be performed June 29-July 14 at the Panida Theater. Sandpoint Onstage will present this story of conman Harold Hill and his adventures in River City, Iowa. Tickets are $15 general admission, $12 for seniors and $10 for children 12 and younger.
