Locals: Two GU women set for U.S. Public Links

 

Gonzaga’s Victoria Fallgren and Tai Jade Kliebphipat will tee off today at the 36th U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship at Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Station, N.J.

The field of 156 golfers will play 36 holes of stroke play today and Tuesday, with the top 64 players advancing to match play beginning Wednesday.

Baseball

Thad Tillotson, a right-handed pitcher who spent two seasons with the New York Yankees after a five-year tour of duty with the Spokane Indians, died May 16 at age 71 in his hometown of Merced, Calif.

Tillotson worked as a starter and a reliever for Spokane’s Pacific Coast League franchise 1962-66, winning 39 games. He ranks 14th in career victories for the Indians.
