Forbes has released its list of the 100 highest paid athletes, and boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is No. 1. Mayweather, who made $85 million for two fights last year, is currently serving a three-month jail sentence in Las Vegas for domestic battery.

Boxer Manny Pacquiao is second on the magazine’s list at $62 million.

Tiger Woods, No. 1 on the list since 2001, made $59.4 million for third.

Underwood headed to games

OLYMPICS: USA Boxing says lightweight Queen Underwood has been awarded a berth in the first Olympic women’s boxing tournament.

Underwood won the first U.S. Olympic boxing team trials in February at Northern Quest Resort in Airway Heights, but dropped a one-point decision at the world championships last month, falling short of Olympic qualification and jeopardizing her berth in London’s lightweight field.

USA Boxing says Underwood received an Olympic spot from AIBA, the international governing body of amateur boxing.

Flyweight Marlen Esparza and middleweight Claressa Shields, also winners at Northern Quest in February, earned Olympic spots at the world championships.
