Obituary: Sicilia, Sandy R.
(Age 86)
Sandy Sicilia was born November 5, 1925 in Spokane, Washington to Carmen and Louise Sicilia.
He was a member of the Spokane community for 86 years and was a founding member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
In 1946, he started a dump trucking business that is still in operation after 66 years.

Sicilia Inc., is now run by his son, Gregory.
Sandy spent many years in joint ventures with the F.R.Hewitt Company building roads all over Eastern Washington, which included large sections of Interstate 90 between Vantage and the Idaho State line in the 1950s and 1960s.
On April 24, 1949, Sandy married Shirley Jean (Debord) at St. Francis of Assisi.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents, Carmen and Louise; his brothers, Barney and John Sicilia; and his sisters, Mary Cannata, Hazel LaJoie, Rose Morris, Virginia Shives, Lucille Thams, and Julia Sicilia.
He is survived by his children; son Gregory Sicilia, and daughter Sandra Sicilia, both of Spokane and his sister, Ida Mark.
He also leaves behind grandchildren Misty Pyper and Mandy Eldridge; great-grandchildren Madison Mullins, William Mullins, Kale Mullins, and Layla Taylor as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 22 from 12:00 to 6:00 pm at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home with a Rosary Vigil to follow at 7:00 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 23 at 10:00 am at St Thomas More Catholic Church, followed immediately by Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
