Three area players qualify for Publinx match play

Gonzaga’s Victoria Fallgren and Tai Jade Kliebphipat and Idaho’s Leilanie Kim qualified for the match play Tuesday at the 36th Women’s Amateur Public Links at Neshanic Valley (N.J.) Golf Course.

The top 64 players in the field of 156 advanced to match play, which begins today and concludes Saturday.

Fallgren finished at 2-over-par 146 to tie for 37th place. Kliebphipat tied for 43rd (147) after a second-round 73. Kim trimmed six shots off her Monday score, shooting a 1-under 71 to tie for 54th at 148.

Lisa McCloskey of Houston had the low score during stroke play, carding a 7-under 137 over the 6,176-yard layout.

• Idaho sophomore-to-be Kaitlyn Oster qualified for the match play portion of the 103rd Women’s Oregon Amateur Championship at Tualatin, Ore., with her second consecutive 83.

Thirty-two players advanced to match play, which begins today and ends Saturday.
