HATHAWAY, James R. “Rod”
(Age 83)

Rod was born on October 30, 1928 in Klamath Falls, OR to Howard and Maartje Hathaway.

He passed away on June 19, 2012 in Spokane, WA.

Rod grew up in Klamath Falls and after graduating high school joined the U.S. Navy.

In 1948 he met Lois Geller, whom he later married on June 3, 1949.

The two of them had four wonderful children: Linda, Randy, Penny and Bruce.

They lived in San Diego, CA, Palm Springs, CA and spent many years traveling before making Spokane Valley their home.

Rod had a long dedicated career in law enforcement, working as a Sheriff’s deputy, a crime scene investigator and a security officer for Sunshine Mine until he retired.

Rod had passion for traveling and spending time with his family, who he loved very much.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years Lois Hathaway; his children: Linda Henderson (Richard) of Anchorage, AK, Randy Hathaway (Gloria) of Spokane, Penny Hathaway of Spokane Valley, and Bruce Hathaway (Jeni) of Coeur d’ Alene, ID; brother Bob Hathaway (Phi-Yen) of Portland, OR as well as six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Phillip and Darrell Hathaway, sister Alyce Haley and his grandson Cody Hathaway.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, June 25, 2012 at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley.
