Dereck was born at Sacred Heart Medical Center on October 1, 2001 to Andrew J. Miller and Heather Garcia.
He passed away on June 21, 2012.
From birth Dereck was fighting an uphill battle, and learned to overcome every challenge thrown his way.
His happiness and kindness to others was apparent in every action he did, from holding doors open for others, to helping little girls carry their Easter Baskets.
He brought joy to others’ lives and loved playing Legos and videogames with his brothers.
Dereck struggled every day to catch up academically with his peers, and had just recently learned to write his own school life journal.
His last report card shows that he had finally caught up.
He was very talented in making crafts such as origami swans and Lego battleships.
He was a beautiful, handsome boy with eyes that everyone will always remember.
Dereck leaves behind his twin brother, Michael, his big brother Jacob, his mother Heather and father Andrew.
He is also survived by his grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He will be loved and missed by all.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 1:00PM Heritage Funeral Home.
