Obituary: Schuetzle, Robert D.

SCHUETZLE, Robert Dale
“Bob” 1930 -2012

Bob was born August 14, 1930 in Mobridge South Dakota to Pauline (Fix) and George Schuetzle (both deceased).

When his parents separated, he lived for six years with his grandparents until his mother married Russell Edwards (deceased).

His stepfather’s job as an ironworker kept the family moving around the country and he attended many schools through the years.

He attended North Central High School and graduated from Spangle High School.

On February 14, 1952, he married “the cutest little chic” he’d ever seen, Joan Pedersen.

They recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary with family and friends.

Together they had three children; Linda (Russ) Estep, Pamela Schuetzle and Mark (Jenny) Schuetzle.

After he completed electrical trade school at SCC, he went to work for Williams Brothers Sign Company for nine years.

He worked as a salesman for the Carnation Co., Vern’s Pies and Boge Bread.

Most of his career was in restaurant supply and design.

He retired from Spokane Restaurant Equipment at age 75.

Bob was always a hard worker; he loved his job and the people he worked with.

Bob loved spending time with his family and friends, and was happiest when everyone was together at the river.

Martini in hand, wearing his Hawaiian shirt, straw hat and sandals with socks, he loved to cruise up and down the river on the “Double Martooni,” his beloved pontoon boat.

Through the years, his love of water was a source of fun, work and pride.

We are so fortunate to have so many precious memories at the homes he built on Hayden Lake and Pend Orielle River, water skiing, boating, playing and spending time together.

His dogs were special to him.

He grieved when Cody passed away a few months ago, but was fortunate and happy to enjoy his last kisses with his new puppy, Toby, in the hospital just before passing away.

In addition to his wife and children, Bob is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Edwards and brother Richard (Joyce) Edwards.

His grandchildren, Betsy (Chris) Gibson, Tracy (Ryan) Ballard, Ty (Chelsea) Schuetzle, Corrie McClelland, Jay (Kristina) Schuetzle, Catie Schuetzle, Bo Schuetzle, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He adored his seven great-grandchildren and regretted that he would miss seeing three new babies expected this year.

Bob spent his last days under the wonderful care of the nurses and doctors at Holy Family Hospital.

He enjoyed joking and teasing with them, and was in good spirits and sense of humor until he took his last breath, his family at his side.

While he has passed on to a better place and is no longer in pain, we will miss him more than words can express.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, and he will always be with us in our hearts and in all we do.
