Can’t even look: Zach Herrin and Eric Slyter of the Knights of Veritas demonstrate an armored sword battle from the medieval period of the 1300s on Tuesday during the Spokane Public Library’s summer reading program at the East Side Branch. Children were exposed to the Code of Chivalry, tried on an armored helmet, and learned to distinguish between movie sword fighting and authentic martial arts. Herrin and Slyter will demonstrate again at 3 p.m. today at the Indian Trail Branch. (Dan Pelle)
