Wash. sheriff wants to ban gang members from fair

LYNDEN, Wash. (AP) — Gang members will not be allowed at the Northwest Washington Fair in August at Lynden. Police Chief Jack Foster says gang members will be identified at the entrance by their clothing, tattoos and other typical displays. Fair manager Jim Baron and police announced steps Tuesday that they are taking to prevent a repeat of the violence at last year’s fair when one person was stabbed and three were shot, the Bellingham Herald reported. The 15-year-old shooter pleaded guilty to attempted murder and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
