Northeast development panel applicants sought by city

From Staff Reports

City officials are searching for people interested in stimulating local economic growth to serve on a planning and development board for northeast Spokane.

Last year, the city created the Northeast Public Development Authority, a group of volunteers who analyze and propose solutions to the economic issues of the area. People with business expertise and a desire to help should apply, said Mayor David Condon in a news release.

“We have a tremendous opportunity for growth in northeast Spokane,” Condon said, “and this public-private development corporation will provide leadership and project management to take advantage of that opportunity.”

The city prefers applicants with experience in urban revitalization, industrial development, finance, project management and working with public organizations. The board will come up with proposals for financing economic development projects and create a land-use and infrastructure plan for northeast Spokane.

Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. July 6. They are available at spokanecity.org. For more information, call city spokeswoman Ann Deasy at (509) 625-6318.
