MAY, Arthur John

Arthur John May, 87, Front Royal, VA, died
on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the VA Medical Center.

Born in a log cabin on May 24, 1925, located in Kooskia, Idaho, he was the son of the late John and Mabel Winkle May.
Depending on how well you knew him or how long, Arthur, Art, or Red.

Art lived and grew up in Idaho until 1949 between Kooskia, Eagle, and Atlanta.

With the exception of 2 years and 2 Ă‚Ë?

months serving in the Army, during World War II.

Being awarded three ribbons, two medals - one being a Purple Heart.
Art moved to Spokane, WA in 1950 where he married and started a family.

In July of 1968 Art moved his family to a newly built home in Federal Way, WA.

Art was a hardworking, loyal, loving husband, and father.
Art retired in 1988, he was a member for the plumbers/pipefitters union local #32 for 44 years.
Throughout his life he cherished family, friends, nature, and the beauty of the United States.

During his retirement, Art spent quality time with this grandchildren, he traveled in his motor home visiting friends and family in Blyth, CA, family in Washington, Idaho, and Nevada.
Since 2006, Art spent time with his youngest daughter and her husband in Front Royal, VA.
Always looking forward to family reunions and get-togethers, family was one of the most important priorities.

Family was a huge part of his soul, being, and was the drive in his life.
Art was a member of the American Legion #53.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Sealock and husband, Danny, Front Royal, VA, and Anita R. May and husband, DeWayne Hornbeck, Federal Way, WA; two grandchildren, Amber and Melissa; two great-grandchildren, Katy and Liz, one brother, Lester May, Chatteroy, WA and one sister, Della May, Spokane, WA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Alice Weaver May; siblings, Dorothy Mattix, Delma Ingram, Darlean Smith and Esther May.
Memorial services with military graveside honors will be held at a later date in Kooskia, Idaho, in the Pine Grove “Spotted Pony” Cemetery.
