In brief: Zumba child care volunteers sought

 

SPOKANE VALLEY – Volunteers are needed to help provide child care during Zumba classes.

Spokane Valley residents Carrie Kekahuna and Angela Durbin are offering free Zumba classes, with free child care, for women who cannot or will not spend the money on themselves for a gym membership.

The classes are at ONE* Church, 15601 E. 24th Ave., Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 1:30 p.m.

About 15 new volunteers are needed for child care. The volunteers would work 90 minutes, once a week. Information will be gathered for a background check.

EWGS seminar on Irish emigration planned

RIVERSIDE – The Eastern Washington Genealogical Society will hold its spring seminar March 10 at the downtown Spokane Public Library, 906 W. Main Ave., from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The event will feature the Ulster Historical Foundation and Fintan Mullan and Brian Trainor, of Ulster, Ireland. Their lecture will include information about Irish emigration from Ireland to America and Irish and Scots-Irish family history research.

Parade organizers seeking volunteers

RIVERSIDE – Volunteers are needed for The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick’s 34th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, to be held March 17. The parade will begin at noon in downtown Spokane.

The Friendly Sons will hold weekly meetings at 6 p.m. Wednesdays at O’Doherty’s Irish Grille, 525 W. Spokane Falls Blvd., to discuss parade planning. Volunteers are encouraged to attend the meetings.

Let lentils guide child’s creative eye

PULLMAN – The Pullman Chamber of Commerce is seeking an artist for the National Lentil Festival children’s coloring contest.
