Obituary: Wohlers, Harold Herman Claus

Long time resident of Spokane, Washington, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 80 years of age.

Funeral services will be held at Pilgrim Lutheran Church located at 2733 W. Northwest Blvd., Spokane, Washington on Saturday, March 10 at 2pm.

Harold was born February 25, 1932 in Vancouver, British Columbia, to Elvira Adelaide and Walter Karl Claus Wohlers.

Shortly thereafter the family moved to Ymir, BC where they lived until 1939 when they immigrated to the United States.

He was naturalized as a US citizen in 1954.

The following year, he exchanged wedding vows with Beverly Shahan, and they continued as husband and wife for 56 years until his death.

Harold, known as “Slim” to his coworkers, retired from Kaiser Aluminum in 1986, his place of work for 32 years.

For many years he served as an elder and caretaker at Gloria Dei Lutheran church.

As an excellent handyman who worked diligently, loved to serve, and took great pleasure in helping others, if anyone needed a helping hand, Harold was the one to count on.

He is survived by his wife Beverly Jane Wohlers, brother Richard Wohlers, children and their spouses Tim and Linda Wohlers, Vicki and Jeff Neher, Tammy and Bill Mullins, Chris and Mike Connors, all of Spokane.

Harold enjoyed nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Alzheimer’s Association Inland NW Chapter, 910 W. 5th Avenue, Spokane, WA 99204 would be appreciated.
