Police: Young girl was unintended victim in gang shooting
Police believe a young girl shot Sunday night near Liberty Park was the unintended victim of a gang-related shooting targeting a 23-year-old man.
The girl, who was described by authorities as 6 years old, was shot inside a home in the 1800 block of East Fourth Avenue, police said.
Officers responded to reports of one man shooting another in the front yard of the home at about 9 p.m. The man who was shot ran to a neighbor’s house for help before collapsing, police said.

Officers responded to reports of one man shooting another in the front yard of the home at about 9 p.m. The man who was shot ran to a neighbor’s house for help before collapsing, police said.
Officers carried the victims to an alley where medics were waiting. They were transported to a local hospital and are in stable condition.
Officers and police dogs tried to track the shooter but were unsuccessful. Gang detectives are now pursuing leads.
