GANNAWAY, Phyllis Mae
(Age 89)

Phyllis passed away March 3, 2012 in Spokane.

Phyllis was born October 16, 1922 to Sam and Cecile Hubbard in Murdo, South Dakota and had three brothers and one sister.

She attended country school and High School in Draper, South Dakota.

In 1939, Phyllis married Boyd Gannaway in Pierre, South Dakota and they had three children; David “Joe”, DeEtte, and Ted.

The family moved to Spokane in 1952 and Boyd worked at Kaiser until his sudden death in 1973.

Phyllis worked for Montgomery Ward and Two Swabbies.

Phyllis enjoyed being with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

She had a unique sense of humor with expressions all her own.

When she was 80 years old, she acquired her first computer and it kept her quite busy.

She was a member of Mary Queen Catholic Church.

Phyllis will be greatly missed by her children; Joe and wife Joy Gannaway of Colbert, WA; DeEtte Smith and husband Blair of Belle Fourche, SD; and Ted Gannaway and wife Noreen of Attalla, AL.

She is also survived by her sister Peggy Buchtel of Burwell, NE; brother-in-law Varyl P Gannaway, England; sisters-in-law Darlene Hubbard of North Carolina and Jan Hubbard of South Dakota; nephew Chuck Hubbard and wife Barb, Spokane, WA; and cousin Hazel Amunrud of Spokane, WA.

Phyllis also had six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Boyd, and her three brothers; John, Herbert, and James.

A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, March 10 at 12:00 noon at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 N Wall St. with a reception to follow.
