HAGAN Jr.
Cornelius E., M.D.

Passed away February 23, 2012.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on
September 13, 1911 to Dr.
Cornelius E. Hagan and
Katharine Lucina
(Durrenberger) Hagan.
His early schooling was in the City of New York school system, PS 171 and Boy’s High School.
Entered University of Virginia September 1929.

Entered the Medical College of Virginia 1931 and graduated May 28, 1935.
He married Lydiellen Munsell in Colorado August 21, 1934.
Internship and surgical residency at Englewood Hospital, Englewood, NJ.

Internship and residency, three years and six months at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, NYC.

Certified Otolaryngologist, 1960.
Dr.

Hagan was an otolaryngologist at the Truesdale Clinic in Fall River, MA in 1940.
He obtained his private pilot’s license in January of 1941.
Entered military service January 21, 1943.

Assigned to Ft. George Wright, Spokane, Discharged October 19, 1956.
Settled in Spokane after discharge.

Private practice of Otolaryngology until his retirement in 1978.
He was an avid flyer, golfer, photographer and traveler,
Dr.

Hagan’s memberships from time to time included Spokane Club, Spokane Country Club, University Club, Flying Physicians, Flying Farmers, AMA, ABA, Spokane County Medical Society.
Served on and as, board member and Chairman of the Board for Medical Service Corporation of Eastern Washington, Board Member and Chairman of the Board of Washington Physicians, Service Member Development Board, Sacred Heart Medical Center.
Consultant Otolaryngology in Fiji, two different years.

Medical expedition to Nepal.
Endowed Appreciation Fund Sacred Heart Medical Center, Student’s Book Fund at Spokane Community College, Scholarships at 2nd Language and supported library at Spokane Community College.
The HAGAN FOUNDATION was started in 1997.

Keeping our children in school and furthering their education was his hope for the young people of our community.
A BON VOYAGE gathering will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 8th at Touchemark (formerly, The Waterford) at 2929 S. Waterford Dr., Spokane, WA.
