Age 87
Mary Schermerhorn, born July 2, 1924 in Chisholm, MN, passed away March 5, in Spokane, WA.
She graduated from St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN with a degree in English literature.
Her career took her to southern Minnesota, Colorado and Lewiston, ID where she met her husband of 62 years, Robert.
Mary moved to Spokane in the early ‘50s.
When she had time to devote to herself her greatest joy was volunteering.
Everything from the PTA at Finch Elementary to being a hostess at the N.W.
Blood Center.
She volunteered extensively with St. Augustine Parish and was very devoted to her church.
She loved everyone she came in contact with, and hope they do the same.
Mary’s wish for every family is to find peace within its core.
Mary had nine children: Robin Whitmore (Kirk), John, Mark (Dinah), Sally Blair (Dan), Luke (Linda), Matthew (Amy), Daryl, Daren (Pam), William; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 9, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 428 W. 19 Ave.
