WSU women’s golfers place 11th

 

TARZANA, Calif. – Emma Betland carded her third straight 78 to finish tied for 23rd at 18-over-par 234 as the Washington State Cougars placed 11th in the 15-team Bruin Wave Invitational women’s golf tournament that concluded Wednesday at El Cabellero Country Club.

No. 22-ranked Pepperdine edged top-ranked UCLA 903-905 to win the team title. Eighth-ranked Oklahoma State was third at 911.

San Diego State’s Christine Wong earned medalist honors with a 3-over 219 total. Alina Chang of Pepperdine was second, four shots back. UCLA’s Erynne Lee and Pepperdine’s Grace Na tied for third at 224.

Washington State’s Mallory Kent tied for 36th place with a three-round 237 total. Teammate Kristen Rue finished at 239 to tie for 40th place.

The Cougs missed tying for ninth place by one stroke.
