Dinner, auction to raise funds

Spokane Valley United Methodist Church will host its annual fundraising dinner and auction next Saturday.

The event has a St. Patrick’s Day theme and the menu will feature corned beef and cabbage. The evening starts with a silent auction at 4:30 p.m. Dinner will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. and a live auction will begin after the dinner.

The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children age 11 and under; there will be a second entrée option for children. Proceeds from the event will be used to send youth to summer camp at Twinlow, for camp maintenance and for the church’s vacation Bible school program.

Book and bake sale

There will be a book and bake sale today and Sunday at the Veradale United Church of Christ, 611 N. Progress Road. The sale will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the church garden. Produce from the garden is donated to the Spokane Valley Partners Food Bank and community members.

Women’s breakfast

Women are invited to attend the Women’s Spring Breakfast next Saturday at Valley Real Life Church, 1831 S. Barker Road. The meal of French toast and strawberries will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. The cost is $7, and child care will not be available.

St. Paddy’s potluck

The congregation of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 15319 E. Eighth Ave., will host its annual St. Patrick’s Day potluck next Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring their favorite “green” dish.

Alzheimer’s seminar

Opportunity Presbyterian Church will host a seminar on Alzheimer’s at 1 p.m. Thursday. No reservations are required and the public is invited. Admission is free. The church is at 708 N. Pines Road.
