Obituary: Halvorson, Brad

Age 67

HALVORSON, Brad

Franklin Bradley Halvorson, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend passed into eternal life on February 25, 2012 at the age of 68.

Born in Fargo, North Dakota on April 4, 1944, Brad spent his early years in Buxton, ND and Foston, MN, before moving to Spokane with his family in 1958.

He attended Lewis and Clark High School graduating in 1962.

Brad worked at Boeing in the late 1960’s during the initial 747 era; and later worked in construction in Spokane; then as a contractor in Bellingham for the past 30 years.

He was also a talented artist and craftsman, and extremely innovative.

He enjoyed listening to jazz, reading science fiction, anything mechanical, rebuilding car engines, and spending time with his family and many friends.

Brad was a gifted storyteller with a great sense of humor, and was entertaining wherever he went.

He was a keen observer of people and the world around him, which always added a fascinating, and sometimes amusing element to the conversation.

He was a man of high honor and integrity, and was always willing to help friends and family when needed.

We find comfort that he had a strong faith in Christ Jesus.

We will miss him very much.
Brad’s passing was preceded by his father Roald Halvorson and one nephew Tanner Halvorson (age 5).

He is survived by his mother Phyllis, brother, Rod (Diane) of Bellevue; sisters Stephanie (Jerry) Gates, and Jacqui Halvorson of Spokane; nephews/nieces Ryan Halvorson (Mikie and three children), Chelsea Halvorson (Bellevue); Russ Gates (Helena), Courtney Gates (Colorado), Heather Gates (Seattle); and Corbet Abrahamson (Spokane).

A memorial service will be held March 31 at Central Lutheran Church, 512 S. Bernard St. in Spokane.

Brad’s friends in Bellingham plan a wake in May.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Central Lutheran Church, Spokane.
