KLEVEN, Marceline
(Moody)

Passed away March 9, 2012.

She was 89.

Marceline was born in Spokane on October 29, 1922 to Helen and John Moody.

She attended Hutton Elementary School and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in the class of 1941.

She also attended Brown and Keating Secretarial School.

Marceline was employed by the Spokane Air Depot at Galena (now Fairchild AFB) during WWII.

She was employed by the Assessor’s Office at the Spokane County Courthouse from 1945 until her retirement in 1968.

She married Herman Kleven (Fargo, ND) on December 8, 1946.

Together they built their home in north Spokane where she resided for 60 years.

They were members of Messiah Lutheran Church.

Herman passed away in 2001 and remarkably Marceline was able to stay in her home even though she had been totally blind since the 1960s.

Over the last several years she and her lady friends were dedicated Mariners baseball fans.

She also loved listening to her “talking books.”

She is preceded in death by her husband, sister Luella Stroyan of Spokane, brother Warren “Bud” Moody of E. Wenatchee.

She is survived by her daughter Joan (Don) Olson of Leavenworth, KS, son Ken (Lori) Kleven of Nine Mile Falls, WA, four grandsons, and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 4202 N Belt, Spokane, WA on March 14, 2012 at 2 pm.

A private inurnment will take place at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
