Northwest Christian Schools soon will open a new, 60,000-square- foot school on Bernhill Road in Colbert, Wash.

The Lower Campus School has 23 classrooms plus art, music and band rooms, a library and a gym. At capacity, it can accommodate up to 500 students.

Elementary students and their families will help move in teachers March 26-30. The students will begin there April 9.

A community celebration and open house is scheduled for May 12, 2-5 p.m.

Northwest Christian Schools has an enrollment of more than 720 students at two campuses.

Rural coffee shop expands

What was once a cramped coffee shop in rural Valleyford south of Spokane Valley is now a spacious eatery with community meeting space and a gallery of north Palouse history.

On Sacred Grounds Coffee Shop, 12212 E. Palouse Highway, has doubled in size to 1,400 square feet, owner Elaine Rising said. Much of the recent construction was handled by her customers, she noted.

The business expanded its breakfast and lunch menu. It’s open 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

On Sacred Grounds also added two rooms that small groups can rent in the evenings or early mornings.

Distributor leases space

Southern Wine & Spirits of Washington has leased almost 26,000 square feet in Building S25 of the Spokane Business & Industrial Park, at 16005 E. Euclid Ave.

The company provides warehousing and distribution of alcoholic beverages and related products.

The deal comes as Southern, a national distributor, took over Washington state operations it was sharing with another company.
