Two Whitworth men honored

Men’s basketball: Whitworth senior Felix Friedt was named to a pair of All-Region men’s basketball teams while fellow senior Idris Lasisi was selected to one of the all-star lists, the school announced Tuesday.

Friedt (pictured above) was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-West Region second team and the D3hoops.com All-West Region third team. Lasisi was also an NABC All-West Region second-team honoree.

Las Vegas lands Pac-12 tourney

Men’s basketball: The Pac-12 men’s basketball tournament is moving to Sin City for the next three years.

Commissioner Larry Scott announced the deal at the MGM Grand hotel-casino in Las Vegas. Scott said the move, combined with moving the women’s tournament to Seattle, will generate buzz and create atmosphere for the conference’s fans.

The Pac-12 tournament running March 13-16, 2013, will be the fourth conference tournament in Las Vegas.
