Idaho women’s golfer Mortellaro earns ninth win


Idaho senior Kayla Mortellaro earned her ninth career collegiate victory Wednesday by finishing at 5-over-par 221 at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at Kaneohe, Hawaii.

Gonzaga (910) placed third among 14 teams, nine shots behind champion Texas A&M. Idaho (933) placed sixth, one shot ahead of Washington State.


Sam Bates finished with two hits, two runs and an RBI as fourth-ranked Arkansas (16-2) notched a 5-3 win over Gonzaga (10-5) in nonconference play at Fayetteville, Ark.

• Nick Hoover allowed one hit over 7 2/3 innings and UC Irvine (9-7) held Washington State (9-6) to two hits during a 6-0 nonconference win at Irvine, Calif.
