The Slice: Do you mind if we quote you on that?

If you lost it and made news in a high-profile way, how would your neighbors describe you to reporters?

Looking ahead to J. Scott Miller’s big day: “My birthday is on St. Patrick’s Day,” wrote the Spokane lawyer. “I was told by my mother I was the only baby in the hospital nursery not named Patrick or Patricia.

“It’s really great that everyone celebrates my birthday … parades, parties, green rivers, green beer, etc. And I can’t tell you the last time I had to buy my own beer on my birthday.

“I do feel sorry for kids that have their birthday on holidays like Christmas and New Year’s, because those traditions are so un-birthday like. But St. Patrick’s is built for celebrating.

“I met a young boy last year who shares my birthday, and I told him he has a lifetime of pretending to be Irish, and it’s great.”
