Gonzaga senior Kayla Standish is one of 52 nominees for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s Division I All-American team.
Standish was nominated from Region 8 with California’s Layshia Clarendon and Stanford’s Chiney Ogwumike and Nnemkadi Ogwumike.
Standish, a 6-foot-3 forward, leads Gonzaga with 15.8 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game heading into Saturday’s NCAA tournament opener against Rutgers.
The selection committee will trim the list to 40 finalists on Monday. The final All-American team will have 10 members.
The Spokane Shock added wide receiver Doug Beaumont to their Arena Football League roster.
The Shock also released WR Julius Lloyd and moved offensive lineman Corey Brandon from the physically unable to perform list to the injured reserve list.
On Wednesday, the Shock activated linebacker Freddie Harris and WR Steven Black from the PUP list. Spokane also released WR Deron Clark and placed defensive lineman Pierre Walters on injured reserve.
