(Age 81)

Richard (Dick), beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend, passed away March 16, 2012, at 3:08 PM at Providence Holy Family Hospital following a short illness.

He was born in Devils Lake, ND, to Frances and Nick Walt.

He was one of eight children.

His family moved to Spokane in 1942.

He worked in the grocery business for 50 years.

He worked for the IGA Liberty Market in Hillyard and then for Albertson’s and was a manager.

He retired in 1992.

He loved to hunt and fish.

He had a trailer at Spirit Lake, ID, for ten years and loved to fish with family and friends.

He loved reading Louis L’Amour westerns.

Dick always worked around the house and kept a nice yard.

He was always a hard worker in anything he did.

He helped family and the neighbors with anything they needed.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia; son, Gary, and Erica Walt; daughter, Debra Walt; three grandchildren, Pamala and Mike Marston, Andrea and Scott Rabe, and Sheila Walt; four great-grandchildren, Shinako Marston, Ethan Rabe, Tristan Rabe, and Kai Rabe; his brother, Jerry, and Mary Walt; brother-in-law, Ben Tipke; numerous nieces and nephews; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Nick Walt; brothers, John, Nick, Frank (Pete); sisters, Betty Peterson, Rosie Hartman, and Helen Tipke.

Dick will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.

Visitation for Dick will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, from 10 AM to 5 PM at HAZEN & JAEGER FUNERAL HOME, 1306 N. MONROE ST., SPOKANE .

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 22, at 1 PM at Fairmount Memorial Park.
