Attempted child luring reported in Stevens County

Authorities are investigating a reported child luring incident in south Stevens County Wednesday.

A 10-year-old girl said a man in his late teens or mid 20s stopped as she was walking along Highway 231 and offered her candy before she ran away, according to the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office.

The man followed the girl but was scared off by her father, who was down the road, authorities said.

The man was driving a green mid 90s to early 2000s SUV, possibly a Chevy Tahoe or Blazer.

The Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Springdale Marshals Office in the investigation.

Area schools have been notified and are being asked to be vigilant in reporting suspicious activity.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 1-800-572-0947.
