In brief: Books, DVDs will be for sale at North Spokane library

SPOKANE COUNTY – On Friday and Saturday, the Friends of the North Spokane County Library will have its semi-annual Used Book Sale, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sale will be at the North Spokane County Library, 44 E. Hawthorne Road.

Paperback books will be 50 cents and hardback books $1. CDs, VHS tapes, DVDs and audiobooks will also be for sale.

All proceeds from the sale will be used for library activities, including Spokane Is Reading, the Summer Reading Programs for children, teens and adults and early learning materials.

Shopping event will offer candles, jewelry, more

DEER PARK – Valerie Rhodes will hold a Spring Fling Hop In and Shop event on March 31 at the Civic Arts Building, 315 E. Crawford Ave., Deer Park, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event provides an opportunity to shop with local suppliers of such brands as Miche, Scentsy, Lia Sophia and Tastefully Simple. The spring fling is free and open to the public, but guests are asked to bring a nonperishable food item for local food banks.
