Obituary: Kottke, John Leroy

KOTTKE, John

John Leroy Kottke was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend.

John passed away peacefully on March 18, 2012 with his wife Joan at his side.

He was born in Joliet MT on April 21, 1933 and went to high school in Potlatch ID.

He served in the Army in Germany from 1953-55 and returned to Idaho where he met his future wife Joan.

They married in Plummer ID on June 24, 1956 and moved to Spokane later that year.

John worked as a Foreman at Dishman Concrete for nearly 30 years, and continued to work steadily until he was 75, thoroughly enjoying working mornings at Dave’s Bar and Grill and staying for coffee with his friends after work.

John loved his family, his friends, the Pacific Northwest countryside, tinkering with mechanical things, and saving things that looked like they might be useful at a later time.

He was never too busy to help a friend who needed a hand.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Louise, his siblings Harold, Patricia, Norma and Robert.

He is survived by his wife Joan, daughter Thalia, son Mark, and grandson, Jacob.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm on March 31, at Mirabeau Chapel, 3001 N. Pines Road, Spokane Valley.
