Obituary: Tuttle, Shirley
TUTTLE , Shirley Ann (Millsap)
Shirley Ann Tuttle died peacefully at her home March 17th, surrounded by her husband and children. She was born and raised in Spokane, graduating from North Central HS and later Northwestern University with a degree in Dental Hygiene. Over the next 50 years she worked continuously for a handful of Spokane dentists, and could always be counted on to have an extra toothbrush for guests and grandkids, or some floss to cut someone’s birthday cake.
She led an incredibly active life, and enjoyed golf, camping, family reunions and downhill skiing. Her sewing projects were legendary and ranged from curtains for the convent to wedding dresses for her sisters and even bathing suits for her daughter and friends each summer. She volunteered at her parish, St. Paschal’s, for years, as well as in the local community, and could get more done by noon than many could in a day. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Don Tuttle, three grown children, multiple grandchildren and even great-grandchildren. As the oldest of seven children, taking care of others was ingrained deeply in her character, and it is only fitting her family was able to lovingly take care of her in the end. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her name to The Armed Forces & Aerospace Museum, P.O. Box 19459, Spokane, WA 99219 or The Downtown Exchange Club Foundation, P.O. Box 650, Spokane, WA 99201.
